Facebook for business doesn’t work!

‘Too much effort for little return’…or what about ‘Facebook is just not my thing’.

or try this one…’This whole social media, Facebook, Instagram thing is crap and I simply don’t have time to work it out’.

If you are like many small business owners who have this mindset…BEWARE!

What you put out is EXACTLY what you get back, and what I mean here is this…when you focus on what you don’t like or can’t do…that is exactly what youre going to get.

WHAT THE LATEST STATISTICS TELL US

There are 3.5 billions social media users worldwide, which equates to about 45% of the population. Why? Because of mobile possibilities, which makes connecting online better than ever.

There are now around 2.32 billion active monthly users on Facebook, the leader in social platforms world wide.

As the CEO of your business, what it means is this…what content does your ideal customer engage with, who do they follow?, why?…it’s about building a relationship…not ‘talking to’ soomeone.

Emarketer has broken down usage by generation, which is interesting to say the least.

Millenials – 90.4%

Gen X – 77.5%

Baby Boomers – 48.2%

When I hear someone say their target market is not online, the statistics prove they are.

Another interesting statistic is 54% of social browsers use social media to research products.

 

WHAT THIS MEANS TO YOU AS A BUSINESS

It’s not about sales online…it’s about engagement.

It’s about demonstrating who you are, who you do it for and how you stand out in the market place.

When that person starts to research a product or service, when they come across your profile, your business page, your Instagram account or LinkedIn profile…it demonstrates the real deal…the way you talk about what you do…not what you think people want to know.

Personally, I see it as showing up being real and not projecting a fake persona, which means you are connecting with the right people with the right message at the right time.

This is not about whether we agree with the data or not, it’s about getting into it and leveraging your business or be prepared to get left behind.

It’s not really a matter of IF we should be showing up online, its more about HOW we do it.

In my HSC year, I studied the well-known novel ‘1984’ by George Orwell…mmm.

Is big brother watching us?

Facebook know A LOT about each and every one of us.

There are two ways to look at this.

Either with fear or with excitement…which means, either way, you should care about these numbers.

Whether you use Facebook or not, or even if you simply do not give a damn…the future of your business is being written by these trends.

 

HOW DOES THIS RELATE TO THE OVERWHELM

A lot in fact.

After speaking to hundreds and hundreds of business owners, this is the deal.

They know they want to get online, they know they need to leverage social media, and know deep down they will get left behind…

But they DON’T do anything about it…they stick their heads in the sand and continue to do the normal routine, whilst fighting a process they know nothing about and one they choose to not learn.
